Our Latymer Upper School students today scored our highest ever A-Level results in ‘normal times’, whilst also breaking the 80% A* – A grade barrier, with 91.5% of students getting their course of choice from universities. This incredible achievement paves the way for their future in the School’s 400th Year.
An extraordinary 41.56% of grades achieved were A*, with 80.76% either A* or A grades across both science and the arts. All thirteen students who applied for Oxford got their places with an incredible 26 Oxbridge offers in total. 19 medics also achieved their offers, including 2 to Oxford, 1 to Cambridge and 1 to Imperial with 1 offer for Biochemistry.
“The results this morning are a fantastic achievement and represent our best ever exam results in normal times. We are very proud of the young people in this current Upper Sixth year group and recognise their resilience, dedication and sheer hard work,” said Ian Emerson, Deputy Head (Academic).
Mentions go to our two students from Ukraine, Alona and Ivanna, who have got places at Imperial (Maths and statistics with AAA and A*) and the University of Arts (Graphic Branding and Identity BEB) respectively, Arielle, Arun, Anna, Quyll, Kim, Ihsan, Giacomo, Sumi, Izzy, Grace, Nona, Zaal, Yuv and Ishan who got all A*s and As with Arielle being recognised for excellence in STEM, Anna who got full marks in the EPQ, Zaal who got top marks in the medical exam earlier this year, Quyll and Kim who both got top marks in various Olympiads and Sophia who joins a prestigious gap year scheme with a highly competitive internship at IBM.
The students who also took EPQs had great success in adding to the breadth and depth of their education here at Latymer Upper School: 72% A*, 20% A (92% A*/A), 8% B, many of whom have been offered places across the globe.
“Our international advising team is dedicated to providing personalized guidance to help students explore a world of opportunities,” says Pippa Gibbs, Latymer Upper School’s Head of International Advising. “It’s about finding the right fit for each student and the continued growth in offers from global institutions is a testament to the calibre of our students and the specialized support we provide. The US is very popular but the number of students applying to other countries is growing especially Europe (Italy, Spain, Netherlands).
We find that our students really engage with the international application process, taking ownership of their future paths and thriving when they reach their university destinations.”
Our Head Su Wijeratna reflects on her first year at Latymer Upper School.
“I am enormously proud of this year’s Upper Sixth students. Their achievements are extraordinary, with our top ever A Level results and their success is underpinned by the spirit of togetherness within our community that has made their future pathways possible. From our teachers, to our supportive families and most importantly the unwavering dedication of the students themselves I wish them every success and happiness for their onward journeys. “

Sasha – Medicinal Biosciences at Imperial.
“I’m thrilled. I’ve always wanted to go to Imperial because it excels in Science. The academics at Latymer Upper School are very, very good. I cannot praise my teachers enough. “
Heloise – German and Russian at St Andrews
“St Andrews was my first choice university. That was thanks to the support I received at Latymer. There were some times I was struggling and my teachers were always very supportive and offered me opportunities to improve. “
Samira – Medicine at Manchester
“In year 10 I did an online work experience and was drawn to medicine and wanted to be a doctor. Achieving that today is a surreal experience. It hasn’t really hit me yet but I’m so excited about the next stages of becoming a doctor.”
Nisan – Medicine at Newcastle
“In primary school in year six we did a dissection and that’s when I decided I was passionate about learning about the body. The Med Soc at Latymer really helped. They laid out the application process and helped us get work experience. (GOSH). And today I am here. I feel really ecstatic. I’ve made myself and my family proud.”
Kim – Natural Sciences at Cambridge
“I had a pretty good feeling when I walked out of the exams but felt a massive relief when I opened the results. It’s also great to hear about my friends who have done well and who will be going to uni with me. If you want to pursue something to whatever level they (Latymer Upper School) will facilitate that. They will let you push yourself as hard as you want to. I’ve had great opportunities like the Olympiad. “
