Global Goals Exhibition

‘IF YOU THINK YOU ARE TOO SMALL TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE, TRY SLEEPING WITH A MOSQUITO.’ DALAI LAMA

Latymer hosted the inaugural Global Goals Exhibition on Wednesday. It was the culmination of the Global Goals course that all Year 9 pupils have been undertaking since September. The evening was an important summation of the year’s work, and was an opportunity for the students to present their projects to parents, teachers and each other. The evening was truly inspiring, and as the sun shone down on the event, Year 9 showcased their innovative, creative and thought-provoking projects. Working in 45 small groups, the students covered 15 of the UNs’ 17 Global Goals. Projects included: the Hammersmith People’s Fridge – an initiative to provide food for those in need, the Dynamo portable waterwheel – a prototype that could help produce electricity in developing countries using recycled plastic and the ‘Seed Giveaway’ – a project to reduce CO2 in the local area. The students demonstrated great courage, resilience and determination in pursuit of their projects. It was a truly remarkable accomplishment for our independent, curious and progressive Year 9 students.
