Success for Latymer’s rowers

Latymer’s rowers have had a busy period of racing.  Our Boat Club have entered our largest ever cohort to the National Schools Regatta with over 135 pupils competing across 26 events.

After three days of racing culminating in eight crews in the A finals, 12 crews in the B finals and two in the C finals, Latymer came home with a well-earned silver medal for the Senior girls’ second eight.

Further news last week: Latymerian Ben Freeman (2015) was crowned University of London Sportsman of the Year. Congratulations to Ben!

More events over the weekend across the pond yielded more success for Latymer alumni rowers:

• Henry Fieldman (2006) achieved silver coxing the GB Mens 8 at European Rowing Championships in Lucerne
• Five Latymerians competed in the US collegiate IRA and NCAA rowing championships
• Orlando Nixon (2015) won gold whilst in the bow seat for Yale men’s 8
• Georgia Hellard Timm (Captain, 2015) took silver, sitting in 6 seat in the Princeton Tigers women’s lightweight 1^st 8
• Tom Phelps (Captain, 2016) won the B final to come 7^th overall as stroke in Brown’s men’s 1^st 8
• Nick Mayhew (Captain, 2017) came 10^th overall sitting in the bow seat for Stanford’s 1^st 8
• Also competing in NCAA Olivia von Stauffenberg (2018) for Duke.

Well done all past and present Latymerian rowers! Now our sights are set upon the racing at Henley, early July.
