Occasional places

Home > Admissions > Occasional places

Places may occasionally become available in Years 8, 9 and 10. Numbers are typically no more than one or two per year group and places are not available every year. We do not admit children during the academic year after the beginning of the Autumn Term in September nor do we admit students into Year 11 or Year 13.

Registration of interest for occasional places 2025

If you are interested in an occasional place for your child in year 8, 9 or 10 starting in September 2025 registrations of interest are now open below.

For entry into Year 8, candidates will choose from one of the following language options – French, German, Spanish or Mandarin. A second language option will be allocated by the Languages department.

For entry into Year 9, candidates will ideally have studied Mandarin or Spanish previously and French and German will be offered ab initio. If candidates have not studied Latin previous to joining Latymer Upper, this would not be available as a Year 9 option. Ancient Greek would be available as an option.

For entry into Year 10, Candidates must have been learning one or more of the following:  Spanish, Mandarin, German or French in order to take at least one of them as a GCSE language. A home language (i.e. one candidates are fluent in or speak predominantly at home) will not be considered for this purpose.

The availability of places is not usually known before February half-term of the year of entry. After this date, we invite interested parents to fully register candidates via an online link and payment of the registration fee (non-refundable). Following confirmation of your child’s registration, we will request selected school reports and references ahead of an entrance examination here at Latymer, Hammersmith.  We are unable to offer a remote or overseas exam for occasional places. Those who are successful in the exam will be invited to attend an interview. Please do not send reports prior to our invitation. We are unable to sponsor pupils who require a Tier 4 visa.

To register you will need to show proof that your child can live and study in the UK by uploading a copy of any relevant supporting documents such as passports/resident permit/visa. Unfortunately, if we do not have evidence that your child can live and study in the UK, we will be unable to make an offer.

Offers are typically made before the end of the Spring Term.
