BOUNCE Week 2021

Our annual BOUNCE Week has got off to a flying start with a busy timetable of fun  activities focusing on wellbeing and good, healthy habits.

The BOUNCE initiative is one aspect of the School’s wellbeing programme. BOUNCE stands for Brain, Optimism, Unwind, Nutrition, Connection and Exercise – common themes in the subject of wellbeing.

Throughout the academic year our tutors deliver wellbeing activities during form time and we use BOUNCE Week to encourage students to focus on their health and wellbeing but also highlight the many facilities and opportunities that are on offer at the School all the time for them to support them.

Events and activities are being put on all over the School site from table tennis and a Silent Disco in the Sports Centre, to karaoke in the theatre, a smoothie bike in the piazza and origami and crochet in the library.

“I’ve been so impressed with the way the students have embraced BOUNCE Week this year. Whether they’re peddling away on the smoothie bike, singing their hearts out or dancing like the world isn’t watching, they’ve been having fun, and been really supportive of each other, ” said Mr Edwards,  Wellbeing coordinator. “The week is an internal open day of everything we offer here to help students with their wellbeing, so there are many different activities happening across the week; each activity is designed to encourage students to try something new, whether its sporty – like dance or circuits – or more mindful, like origami in the library or the Big Draw Mr Mumby has organised in the Art Studios on Saturday, there really is something for everyone, and I know they are really looking forward to challenging the teachers in our Game shows in the theatre! Any ones of these could be the seed of a new habit and maybe a lifelong passion.”
