Latymer Upper School’s March Musical Concert Series

Over the past few weeks Latymer Upper School’s talented musicians have showcased their incredible skills in a series of musical concerts.

The Symphony Orchestra Concert on Tuesday 11th March set the stage for an evening of classical mastery. Three outstanding Year 13 soloists took the spotlight—Alina delivered a moving performance of Dvořák’s Cello Concerto, Robyn captivated with the second movement of Richard Strauss’s Oboe Concerto, and Madeline  impressed with Saint-Saëns’ Introduction and Rondo Capriccioso.

Following this, the Orchestral and Jazz concert took place on Wednesday 13th March in our Edward Latymer Theatre.  Audiences were treated to performances by the Latymer Orchestra, Symphonic Wind Band, Wind Band, and two jazz ensembles. Highlights included The Chamber Orchestra’s performance of the first movement of Haydn’s Cello Concerto, featuring a solo from Alfonso.

Finally we had our Choral Concert at Sinfonia Smith Square in Westminster on Monday 17th March. The evening featured a rich and varied program, including Saint-Saëns’ Septet, selections from the guitar and brass ensembles, and performances by the Lower School Choir and Latymer Consort. Highlights included the School Choir’s rendition ofMendelssohn’s Hear My Prayer, with Enrico as the soloist, and a stirring performance of Beethoven’s Choral Fantasy, featuring pianist Alia.

A big thank you and congratulations to everyone involved.
