Latymer celebrated a hat trick of awards at the sector’s most prestigious ceremony – the Tes [Times Education Supplement] Independent School Awards 2018, winning:
Independent-state school partnership
Senior school of the year
And the icing on the cake – Independent school of the year
The judges summed Latymer up as “putting the best possible case for being a public school in this day and age.”
As Tes pointed out, Latymer helps to show the contribution to communities that independent schools can make. A map showing the state schools that Latymer works with stretches out to every part of its corner of West London, from Chiswick and Barnes to Shepherd’s Bush and White City.
The judges for the Senior School of the Year said: “Latymer Upper School’s new innovative learning strategy makes the school a worthy winner of this category.
With a focus on learning and scholarship, promoting the habits of heart, head and hand, and with dedicated time for teacher learning, coaching and action research, the school has developed a well-thought-through and comprehensive strategy, which has been carefully evaluated to ensure even greater impact on student learning. Well done!”
Head, David Goodhew told Latymer staff today: “Latymer won three awards at the Tes ‘Independent School Awards 2018’ ceremony, which is remarkable by any standards.
It was an extraordinary evening, made possible by the hard work and dedication of all staff at Latymer. To be recognised in this way, among so many other excellent schools was one of the proudest moments of my professional career.”
